Glove box lock issue '70 Imperial

The handle spins loosely around without operating the lock. Putting the key in (when the handle is in the correct position) the lock can be opened. The key doesn't have to be all the way in, so it's not locked. It used to work ok, but started to slip more and more and now needs the key. What could be wrong? And how does the lock come apart from the lid?

Thanks, but I couldn't get it apart anyway, I didn't find any spring loaded tab in the slot, even if I saw the picture showing what should be there. But it seemed that the knob was slipping on the lock cylinder and I was able to drill a small hole through and insert a small piece of steel pin from a pop rivet with glue in it. Problem solved, I hope.
