Ah, so here we go again. The greatest car chase EVER was between Steve McQueen and two thug contract killers who killed Mr. Charmers witness.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. Some of the best lines in a movie, ever.

Im sure there were ongoing repairs between scenes just to keep it going a little while longer

In the one scene on the highway, when he goes off into a pole, he was in the hospital for months after that. That was not planned. They had to beat the body back out of the car to make it driveable again. Started filming again once he was able too.

The driver sure beat the crap out of that mach 1 though. Parts car, if even that.

The car was beat to nothing before the chase started. Not exactly but the car was stripped down to the pan and a full NASCAR style cage built and the body panels put back on. If I recall the only time the chase was stopped was for the wreck into the light pole, the ONE car did the entire chase without any other repair work. The Director/Actor also built the car and drove it.

Best? Still high on my list.

Thats very interesting, the Owner/Director/Actor was HB. Halicki and he was killed filming a stunt for the sequel.

This was the first time EVER seeing that movie for me. Jeez, did EVERYbody wear platform shoes in those days?

Jeez, did everybody drive their cars like that in those days??? Of course not.

NO. EVERYbody didn't wear platform shoes in those days. MOST people didn't wear platform shoes in those days. You saw them mostly on TV, movies, the sophomore dorms, and Club 54.

For me its the ole classis "Bullet" ! I especially like the start of it when the Charger turns left & peels out smoking the tires. Then the Stang tries to follow & the cabbie intervenes & pulls up pointing out the window at McQueen. While he is reving the engine. Then steers around the cab & peels out in pursuit. That was just too darn real for me.

"Sugarland Express", hands down Period. Its based on a true story, dozens of C bodies in it and REAL big block engine noise not "sound effects" onto the film.

Club WHo? Am I supposed to know that? You one of the guys who wore platforms...aren't ya? Long side burns..hahaha. C'mon, fess up. We'll still love ya. :poke:

There are a lot of what I like to call "classic" car chases. Bullit, Blues Brothers, Vanishing Point, The French Connection, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, and a favourite of mine Short Time with Dabney Coleman...hilarious and shows what those Mopar Cop cars could do. They're all great.

I remember seeing a movie on one saturday afternoon about two guys driving this souped up POS Chevy across the country...name?

Saw the title and thought of only two movies which would qualify even though I saw them all. Blues Brothers, being a comedy, was immediately eliminated as an example. The two I thought of was Bullitt and the French Connection.

Two Lane Blacktop

Warren Oates, James Taylor and Dennis Wilson and Laurie Bird

Another classic
