Hagerty Barn Find Hunter-Southern California

What a waste! The guy stacked up old cars to be art? Gag me!

Cuyama by the way, pronounced "Kwee-yama," is not in So. Cal. It's in Central Cal just outside of Bakersfield. I know that Bakersfield is in the south of the State, but the people there do not consider themselves a part of So. Cal. You have to live south of the Grapevine to be so called; this is north of it.

I was there the first time in 2006 and 2 times after.
Talked to the owner Tom Merkel who past away not so long ago.......
He saved a lot of stuf from the crusher!!!!
Don,t know what they gonna do with the cars now but removing and selling all these cars/parts/bikes/art-stuf takes years!!!

His daily driver at that moment ( 2006 ) was Henry Kissinger,s old lincoln.
I have lots of pix from the place.....

If you can't buy any of them, or anything off of them, they haven't been saved from anything; they will rot away to nothing. I have never liked "Cadillac Ranch" for the same reason - a total waste of cars that someone might have been able to do something with.

Seems like a great place.
I love to just walk a salvage yard (and take pictures)
I never took parts of from cars which were nearly complete in salvage yards.
Would make me always feel bad to be the one who is killing the car.
Often enough in history the parts cars from yesterday became the project cars of today.

Not the cup of tea for most guys here but think of how many 68-70 Charger Road Runner and super bees have been parted out in the 80s&90s which would be loved by todays standarts
