I came across a post that talked about what to clean in the window mechanism to allow them to crank up and down more easily. Would you think that I could find it now though. If someone could point me in the right direction or repost it here that would be great. This is really important for me since my AC doesn't work and it isn't a high priority right now to get it working.

Thanks

i replaced my rear left window regulator was a mild p.i.t.a. to do... i just lubed up the gears on the crank with wheel bearing grease every thing else looked ok didn't want to screw anything else up by taking the window guides out

When your inside the door, lube everything, wheel bearing grease, or spray white lithium works good. All rollers and guides. Remember these cars are 40 + years old and no lubricant last's that long.

FWIW, I just had to disassemble the right rear door/glass on my 4DSD. I found a few things that needed attention.

The glass had gotten really hard to raise and lower. Eventually the plastic rivets that secured the glass to the track failed and the glass was flopping around.

The original lubricant had turned rock hard and came off like paint chips.

The clock spring on the regulator was so rusty that the whole system would bind up.

I removed and disassembled the regulator. Then soaked it all in apple cider vinegar for a couple of days. A little wire brush work and cleaning brought it all back to new.

White lithium grease on everything(even the clock spring) and then reinstalled. Works like butter now.

Be real careful when removing the clock spring-high tension there.

I clamped the regulator in my bench vise and used vice grips on the spring end. I also covered it with a big thick towel in case of unintended release.

The rusty spring is the main root of the binding.

Hope the input helps.

John
