New to this. Just started work on old family car, 66 Chrysler Newport. Runs, but before I drive too far, wou;d like to fix headlight problem. One low beam works on low, but all lights work on high. Have replaced dimmer switch. Have gotten suggestions of replacing bulb and/or light switch. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Change the bulb. Sounds like the low beam element is burnt out in one of the dual element bulbs.

I was having the opposite problem with the wagon. I replaced the bulb, same problem. Turned out that one of the wiring connectors in the headlight plug had come loose and was not making contact. Pulled it out, bent the tang up, and re-inserted...problem fixed!

That would do it as well, I have had corrosion build up on the plugs & bulb plug tips before on a few vehicles over the years also causing that problem, I cleaned them up and resolved the problem. I think generally is safe to say the problem is gong to be right at the light bulb connection point or the bulb itself.

After some frustration, you were right about everything. It was a burnt out bulb and dirt build up in the plug. Thanks again for the good advice
