Hello there C:

I got a scuffed but solid '69 300, running and driving but not road legal here yet. I live in Germany, you might have heard tales of TÜV...

My priorities right now are getting on the road legally and replacing literally every weather seal, preferably in time for BBTR. After that I'll have to find some gauges, also I guess I'll have to face electrical and get it right once. On the side I will keep working on rust prevention and (re-)painting everything in hopes to be able to (at least technically, gas is pretty expensive here and i drive a lot) daily the car year round.

Plans for the future - besides working on reliability and longevity - include installing a CB radio, putting in a rollcage, creating a custom headliner, redoing the seats making them leather (probably outsourcing this), building a new speaker system and finding some bluetooth and maybe cassette solution, getting some engine preheating in and a bunch more.

I also have some more wild visions I might act on some day, like wondering what you can get out of the car after giving it the Daytona/Superbird treatment and contemplating custom building a full cyberpunk style interior. Think Bladerunner, very 80s/90s cyberpunk anime, stuff like that. Very much trying to fit the vibe of the car tho - nothing modern big touchscreens or whatnot. Sorry to all the purists, I feel you - but I intentionally got a car with barely any interior and everything in bad shape so I could make it my own. I wouldn't cut/build/put big changes into any nice/mint interior. Besides, finding actual C-Body interior parts is next to impossible here. Trust the process I guess.

Anyways, I think this summarises everything pretty well, I'll try to keep things updated. For now I have to start slow, I have finals coming up soon and my progress is capped by how much money I can spare, but I'm on it.

See yall round!

Sounds like a cool car. Let's see some pics.

I'm a bit of a fan of custom, purist in many respects, but a custom car has its own flare. Since you mentioned superbirding the car up, here's my superbirded barracuda. Not much stock.

Ouuu thats nice, I love everything about this car! 100% hits my taste, its like desktop wallpaper tier :D
Also happy to know theres kindred spirits around :)

But yea, this is my car, better pics will be taken in the near future:

And while on the topic, heres the only two winged 300s I've seen so far - no nosecones tho:

I believe the plum crazy one came from somewhere in this forum and if I remember correctly, wasn't suuper popular. The other one is from Instagram somewhere.

Your 300 looks awesome as it is.
I really like the center stripe!
You won't get anyone else that likes the wings on this site.
I'm the only one. But, I think it's great that you are doing up
your car the way you like it.
Wings are very pricey. Last one I encountered was at Carlisle, was a reproduction and you had to buy the nose with the wing.
I recall the asking price was 8K? And it sold for 5K. As I recall.
I've considered nose coning this barracuda.

Let's see some more pics of your awesome ride!
Any chance of seeing the trim tag? That would be great. I like to decode tags.

Here's a few more pics of my road warrior, Kriss.

Thanks so much for more pics, huge fan :D The scenery is also amazing, if thats not about the best drive one can go on I don't even know.
Really happy to have met you here and so soon, had my worries there'd be noone here sharing that part of my taste - and rightfully worried it seems... I'll be on black steelies too, soon, and the red ring headlights are actually really inspiring. Do let me know if you're adding the cone, I'm intrigued!

But yea, I'm very much in love with how the car is looking right now, I won't be mad if I can't give the superbird treatment but I really do wanna try it someday. On one hand purely to see it in person, on the other to finally find out first hand how much of a difference it actually makes (top)speed/handling wise.
Other than that the only things I'm considering doing visually right now is wrapping the chrome parts black to see which I like more, swapping to a hood with scoops once I find one, don't think I'm comfortable cutting into my stock one, tinting the rear windows if legally possible (louvers are great too I'm just not convinced they'd fit) and/or adding a front notch spoiler.
A tow hitch and a push bar are also very much on my list of potential additions, mainly to actually use them tho - torque is fun.

I very much believed wings are rare and not cheap, so far I saw my chances higher trying to build one myself to be honest, haven't looked into it yet tho. Any, especially C-Body, body parts are super hard to source from over here and im pretty sure shipping would also be quite costly. If I may ask, where did yours come from?

I'll find you the trim tag, took a picture at some point. It is pretty underwhelming tho, compared to what you see around, and like half the stuff is missing nowadays. H51 (AC) and R13 (Radio) are missing and R31 (rear speakers) are in questionable condition and fully disconnected from the car - hope I got the codes right, been a while since I looked into them.
I didn't care much for AC, it won't be able to fight the exhaust heat anyways and if I manage to shield that I'm good with open windows. Missing radio was bareable, I'll fill the slot with gauges or something and fit some audio under the dash at some point, the music of 440 is gonna make me plenty happy anyways. My biggest wants were just front bench seat and column shift, scuffed interior and solid motor, drivetrain and body. So far looks like I got what I wanted.

Will drop more car pics soon C:

H51 is a great option to have.
I like the thought of all your plans.

Wings are very difficult to find.
My wing, came off of the one and only state patrol car.
The Blackbird .
Long story, but that's where it came from.
Been looking for the actual car for years and years.
It was in a storage lot in Arizona when the wing was removed
40 years ago.
It's my single most personally valued part I own.

The New Mexico police car? Woah that's incredible! I once read an article about it somewhere, very cool, seems to have had quite the impressive top speed. If you're okay telling the story, I'm very interested!

Found the article, in case you don't know it yet here it is:

Thank you for posting your fender tag. Would love to see the full VIN for records (and hear about the car's story), but it's OK of course if you prefer not to post it.

Do you see what I see on it, though? 832 scheduled build date would be August 32, 1968. @69CoronetRT @ceebuddy @cuda hunter @polara71 @fc7_plumcrazy

Welcome, and nice looking car. I have a 69 Newport with a 300 grill. Have her down for the winter getting a new paint job and some mild custom work. Still trying to decide on some stripes to break up all the white. Would love to see more pics of your 300

Thanks for the build date, that explains why I haven't figured it out so far - granted I didn't try very hard on that one yet. Do you by chance have more info on scheduled build dating? How does the 32nd of August happen? Judging by the amount of people tagged I'm assuming there might either be history with 832 cars or it's seriously puzzling. Car was built in Jefferson, Michigan, by the way, heard they all had their own labelling in parts so that might be relevant info.

I don't know very much about the cars story before me, I do often wonder however what it's seen. So many important memories of my life are very influenced by and tied to the cars I drive/drove, also the historical events maybe witnessed on radio news and things like that. Also personally I constantly keep wondering about the music played in the car before. Sure thats maybe kinda deep but with a car more than double my age and also from a whole different continent I can't help but wonder sometimes.

Regarding the VIN, I still don't know it all by heart and I can't check right now, but I know the "info-part" fairly confidently is CM23K9C.
C: Chrysler; M: Medium price class; 23: 2 door hardtop; K: 440 V8 RB engine; 9: 1969; C: Jefferson, Michigan assembly plant - if I remember correctly.

I like the combo, it does look a lot like a 300 now. Bumpers do do a lot for looks. Also I really like the classic wheels.
I'd love to see more once the paint is done and the stripes have been decided C:

Also nice Crossfire, I see one parking along a street I often take every now and then and it always intrigues me to try out driving one someday.

Thank you for the detailed response! It looks like someone mis-stamped the tag -- I've seen evidence suggesting mis-stamping before BUT this is the first time I've seen one that for sure is mis-stamped, given that a SBD of 832 is impossible. That is why I tagged several members who know a lot about tags and codes.

CM23K9Cxxxxxx -- correct, I see that part, it's the xxxxxx that I was asking about (IF you are willing to share, no pressure -- but it might help track the car's history).

It's a known typo for '69 Jefferson. One can find similar misstampings at other plants.

Humans made tags. Humans make stimakes. Tags have mistakes.

The Schedule Build Date (SPD) and the following six letter and/or numbers together compose what is know in 1969 as the VEHICLE ORDER NUMBER (VON) They are administrative in purpose and totally unrelated to production. Cars were built well before and after the SPD. It is far more unlikely the car was assembled on the SPD than likely.

The SPD is not a reliable estimate as to actual assembly. There are other method far more accurate like date coded components or other dates on paper work if they are available.

I'll let you know next time I'm at the car, I'm happy for every info I can find on it (:

Thanks for the input! Which parts are best to look at in regards to date coding? Does engine coding help or are there better places to check?
