I was moving along fine on my 340 tear down and am stuck on the cam gear for the timing chain.

I bought the book "How to rebuild a small-block Mopar" and it is great! In the disassembly process it says "To remove the timing chain, first remove the bolt located in the center of the camshaft gear. The cam gear is secured and located with a keyway."

The bolt came out no issue. So, how the heck do I remove the keyway?

Will get a picture when I can, just not able to find anything useful that shows the trick here. If it is in the FSM I couldn't find it.

HELP!

You need a gear puller. Either ah two jaw or three jaw. The keyway stays in the grove on the cam, the gear getz pulled straight off.

That's it!?! Okay, I thought I had to try and remove the key before putting a puller on it. I will get me a puller and do as you suggested.

Thanks!
