how do i prevent blown bulbs?

as the title states what's the best way to prevent it from happening? i'm not sure if this has been covered or not?

mostly all the 1157's and such from turning the bulbs into that neat marble blue

Grounds, grounds and more grounds. Biggest culprit on mopar wiring is the lack of, or just darn right pathetic grounding. Ad ground from battery to rad support, from block to sub frame, from motor to firewall, and then you can even run separate grounds off each bulb to the body.

That should cure you burning bulbs. ;)

Check your charging voltage with a voltmeter. If your getting above 15v its too high(16 and up, but I would look into anything much above 15). Bulbs constantly burning out is a classic indicator of too much voltage.

i'm slowly upgrading my charging system, already upgraded to a newer square back 46amp alt. have not installed the newer style VR yet, i will adding more ground wires when i can

i grounded one of the fields on the alt, i still have the old vr in there

this is just a general why do blubs blow in the first place thread... when i had my 71 fury 13 years ago my 1157 blubs like to turn blue all the time. and since my i had to replace one on my 68 newp.

just trying to prevent it from happening so often

Simple: stop driving at night so that you will stop turning on your lights. Oh yes, don't use your brakes either.

no need to unhook the switch. your bulbs are burnt anyway.
