Grounds, grounds and more grounds. Biggest culprit on mopar wiring is the lack of, or just darn right pathetic grounding. Ad ground from battery to rad support, from block to sub frame, from motor to firewall, and then you can even run separate grounds off each bulb to the body.
Check your charging voltage with a voltmeter. If your getting above 15v its too high(16 and up, but I would look into anything much above 15). Bulbs constantly burning out is a classic indicator of too much voltage.
i'm slowly upgrading my charging system, already upgraded to a newer square back 46amp alt. have not installed the newer style VR yet, i will adding more ground wires when i can
i grounded one of the fields on the alt, i still have the old vr in there
this is just a general why do blubs blow in the first place thread... when i had my 71 fury 13 years ago my 1157 blubs like to turn blue all the time. and since my i had to replace one on my 68 newp.
