Just wanted to start a thread to check in on our C body brother and sisters in the path of the monster.. please be safe.

I only know of Will in LA.. how you doing Will?

35" of rain in one system is unimaginable!

With all that rain trees and power line poles will be falling down for weeks to come.

Its not going very far over the next six days

We've had a tremendous amount of rain the last couple of months (+32") but nothing like this hurricane in a couple of days.

Another Will .....? To me LA means "lower Alabama". No issues here.
The storm looks like its pushing WNW off the Gulf into Texas. I wish all in it's path well.

A nursing home in Dickinson TX. Yikes. It isnt all this bad, but THIS ONE is heartbreaking. They got 'em out but I worry about others with limited mobility.

And the lights are on !!

holy smoke .. they are.

Why didnt the breakers trip? Or did they, down low by wall outlets, and left overhead lights on from a different circuit? maybe that hall light is emergency lighting (battery powered)?

we had floods here in a few neighborhoods a couple years back, nainly basements due to a heavy rain, and residents were specifically warned NOT to go into their basements UNTIL the meters were removed.

ya gotta get the house off the grid (have the meter removed) we were warned before you go down there and try to start cleaning up.

Good point Will. We do call it "Lower Alabama". I of course meant Louisiana. I don't know why I thought you lived in Louisiana, I know better.

Not that the situation is funny, but I do find it somewhat amusing that the ladies in the picture seem to be just going about their business like there isn't 30" of water everywhere.

The part of this that bugs the hell out of me is the storm was well enough predicted from what I've paid attention to. A big part of living in a potential flood zone or near the coast is knowing when your area is jeopardy, flood zone and storm surge maps are easy enough to find... why do so many folks ignore the warnings and leave too late?

I agree Jeff but put yourself in their shoes, it would be hard to leave your castle but I will say that the powers that be should have put mandatory evacuations in place for a lot more areas.
