The plan for today was to put all the sheet metal back on the 70 challenger convertible I've been doing for a customer and then final detailing and clean up tomorrow. No such luck. As I was putting the newly rebuilt door hinges on I realized the rebuilder forgot to put the springs on that hold the door open. So now I'm dead in the water because until the doors are on I can't do anything else. I was really planning on being done with this job tomorrow. That aint happening. That is how they all go! Something small unless its something big. Every time I think I'm getting close to finishing for a customer they call and do the "Do you think you could also do ..............."! LOL.

Car looks fantastic! How could a door hinge rebuilder forget to put springs on??? Aren't there only 4 pieces per hinge total, including the spring?:pimp_daddy:

Gosh, I can certainly relate. It seems getting one of these 40+ year old cars painted or restored is an endless series of unexpected problems, one of the major ones being the ability to get correct or good parts. I share the pain you feel now. One of the big issues is that some of the customers you do work for probably don't have a clue to the kinds of difficulties in your profession, either with parts or paint reactions or something else that can't be predicted.
Hang in there.

Ok turned out to only be a minor setback. The hinge rebuilder immediately next day aired the springs so I put them on and by this morning it was all assembled. A little final detailing and some stripes when the owner decides on color and she's done.

Another Stunning job there Chris! What's slotted to come in next?
I've got a couple of cool ones up next. a 70 Charger that will be sort of a resto mod and one the coolest cars I've had here, a 60 Plymouth Fury convertible. The Fury is a factory air, power window, power seat car.
