It's a M-body. Not sure how rare it is though. Allpar states that in 1978 there were 75,248 Diplomat coupes, sedans and wagons made. No specific number on coupe production.

They where fairly common. I have a very nice one in my possession. I can get you pics of mine tomorrow. The one you posted has been for sale for a year or more. There was also a Chrysler version the LeBaron
 
My grandmother had the LeBaron version. Still remember those comfy seats.
 
Dad had a sweet triple blue '79 LeBaron coupe as a demonstrator while he was a Chrysler salesman. I wanted that car sooo bad as a teenager! It was a 318 auto with power everything, and NO vinyl top! When he sold that, he drove a Lil' Red Express for a short time. His answer to me on that one was "Not just no, but HELL no!" I know full well he went out and smoked the tires on that one more than once before he sold it!
