Credit to others on the net as I lifted all these pics elsewhere. I found it all figuring out my problem and how to fix it. Shift to reverse, column turns peg, peg slides the switch, switch activates the reverse lights.
The long black peg below and the white one below are the same. Note that you would tap the top skinny part of the black peg down into the fatter bottom part and that is what spreads the barbs on the bottom of the peg out into the column thus securing the peg. Do not cut this top part of the black peg off thinking that it is too long in comparison to your old one (if you have it).
The part is still available via NOS parts dealers using the part number 288311 it is pin, B/U lights
