There's only a few '59 Custom Royal 'verts in existence and rarely come up for sale ($$$). The 880's are unloved and a holdout with parts borrowed from earlier models, almost perfect candidate, except for the whole full frame vs unibody thing.

He says converting it to a 60-61 Polara would've been easier, front clip and trunk lid bolt on maybe. 1960-61 Polara's are rare and $$$ too.
 
I was at a car show in LaFollette, TN a while back and there was a 59 Crown Royal that was stunning. Under the hood was a late model 5.9 Magnum. Looking inside I saw it had a post 96 Dakota dash.
Looking at the display material it read the body was sitting on a post 96 Dakota frame.
The result was incredible.

The Dakota dash looked out of place IMO. The body is beautiful though.
