What will they think of next? Looks kool, I'll have to spend a little time with that. My '68 RR is a post car.

Been a 2dr. post devotee myself forever. pv-smilies_xxx02.gif
Should put my 1971 Opel Commodore GS 2dr.post in the (proper) GM section just to create some confusion. :)

I came across this Fury I post sedan a couple of times during my **** search.
Seems to have been Commando's car from the info on the Sport Fury website. What was the story behind this one, guess you don't own it anymore Stan ? Love it.

Yes, that was mine.
I worked in a gas station and gave that car's first fill up of gas when the owner drove it straight from the dealer to the gas station. It was a /6 3 speed with zero options. I wanted that car right there and then. I thought to myself that was the perfect car to drop in the newly introduced 440 and a four speed and go NHRA A/Stock racing. I ended up owning it 38 years later as the second registered owner. It finally got it's 440 and 4 speed....
When it came time to paint the car, I opened up a tiny rust hole on the right quarter to repair it. It turned out the more I picked away at it, the more it became a Pandora's box. Finally the body work after a year was overwhelming and I wasn't even close to finishing it. Beyond my capabilities. I ebayed it and it sold the first day to a guy with deep pockets and had good restoration shop.

Interesting story. Would have liked to take this over with the 440 conversion done and the body work left for myself. Pretty much a factory original guy but this one would have been great with the conversion. Low mileage I'd guess despite the area related rust issues.

"newly introduced 440"......wow...can only imagine what that must have been like.

Although I seriously doubt any were made, this combo WAS available. Plus I used all factory parts. Other than the VIN, you never would have known. Everything was correct for a 440. Torsion bars, radiator, repro hump, floor shifter column, etc. etc. etc. If I had conveniently "lost" the VIN I could have easily passed it off. Too bad you didn't buy it. I took a HUGE hit on it.

Yes, time for full size sleepers as drag cars were about over when these Furys were available, they surely preferred the Belvedere Hemis for that application, so there was an even more limited market for these kind of cars.
Pretty christmessy avatar by the way. Getting in the mood. :)

In 65, Mopar shifted their emphasis for muscle onto the B-bodies, By 66, the Fury was out of even NASCAR.

I was very close to get a 10k mls 1965 all black 4dr Galaxie 427 R-code about 12 years ago, but someone snapped it up before me. Still have nightmares about that missed opportunity.

I was talking with Matt a few days ago and talking about how I wished I still had all of my Mopar's from yester year. My Brother was kicking me in the *ss for selling them too.
