.. I found my peeps ! I have 3 daughters and the home CHIEF and I've been hoping to get ANY old obscure car to work on in my spare time and within my limited budget. I've been passively looking literally for decades and just recently got the roof on my detached garage done. Since I now had a place to work on a car, I checked on CL and low and behold, I found a 65 Polara convertible for sale for $3900 about 10 miles from my house ! I checked it out and the CHIEF actually loved it. I made "Pete" (awesome Dude !) an apologetic offer of $2500 .. which he accepted ! The car runs and the top works which is all my wife needed to see (for $2500, this should tell you how much rust it has and how big the holes are in the floor pans ! hehehe). It has a 383/2 bbl and the 727 was slipping in all gears and was moving in neutral. I've had MBDK420 (Moby Dick and my birthday .. yeah, my college aged girls pushed to get that on the antique plates, ahem !) for about a month and I'm working through safety/drivability items now .. I changed the tranny fluid and tuned the gear shift cable and throttle position linkage and now she moves great and I have neutral ! .. whoohoo ! I found your forum and am SO excited and appreciative to be here ! I have already learned so much from all you C-body folks so thanks very much and if there's EVER anything I can do for anyone near Rte 15 in Haymarket, VA just let me know !!

Welcome,
I kinda like the 65s myself.
Keep us updated on your progress.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Are you sure the 420 thing stands for your birthday because Moby Dick sure sounds like a good name for a bong.:poke:
I'm really just kidding, it looks like a nice driver at $2500 and you should just drive the wheels off of it. I have a brother with the same birthday btw.

welcome , very cool . now the fun begins . i've got a 65 880 rag , bought from the original owner . i got interviewed before i could even look at the car , but she is a beauty , here she sat in the one windowed garage , back lit there in her stall by candlestick ball park in south sf . i got to get a few pics of her .

Thanks very much .. I perused your garage and am so thankful (and envious !) .. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post .. if my wife ever hassles me about spending a lot of time working on the car, I'll show her your family pics and all the great cars and memories you had with them - thanks for the top cover !

Thanks a lot Detmatt .. my daughters appreciate your sense of humor .. you pretty much nailed our plan and the pic below is what it's all about .. BTW, tell your Bro I said wassup from another 420 connection (I work for Uncle Sam now so I'm currently well behaved .. ☺)
