I am Zach and I have a 1966 Chrysler Newport. I'm on a quest to become a "Car Guy" by learning how to do things as they come up. It is my hope to connect with the vast repository of "Old Car Guy Knowledge" so that I can pass it down to my kids and keep the ability to work on and understand automotive workings alive.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! You've come to the right place to find old car guys.

Welcome Zach, a lot of great knowledge here. I have a 66 300. You will find that in a few areas the 66 are unique to the later slabs, so this is where you want to be. I have already experienced a few of these areas.

Well. . . I dunno. . . There are old cars here, and there are old guys. And I think all of us old guys are looking for the same things as you. Welcome to FCBO! And of course, we want pictures.

This is a picture of my car. My gameplan is to identify things I would like to improve, then figure out how to do it. I have already replaced all of the hardware/drums on all four wheels and bought new wheels and tires (I exploded a tire on the highway driving the thing home...I figured it's better to replace than try to test my luck with rotten rubber). My next task is to put in all new wiring because the current wiring is all original and looks like Vietnam (also caused a small fire while driving). If there is interest I would be happy to add more pics.

We never turn down more pictures. There are companies out there making wiring harnesses for our cars.

Absoultely, I bought a 18 fuse, 21 circuit harness from EZ Wiring. I just haven't had the time to start the process. I think that if I go slowly and take a bunch of pictures that I'll be alright. That being said, I'll take any advice offered.

While you are at it you should bypass the ammeter. Definitely an issue with our cars and can cause an electrical fire.

Lots of pictures is key on the wiring harness, I also use dielectric grease at all connections and scuff up really good any ground connections, this is where a majority of the electrical problems occur.
