leaf springs:

I have two sets of leaf spring for a 68 newport. One is from a fastback parts car and the other is the set on my 68 Newport convertible. Would these have the same spring rates, or would the set from the fastback be heavier. I would like to use the heavier set. :sSig_thanks:

Look at the vehicle weight listed on your title.I would think that the spring rates would be the same for both vehicles since there isn't much of a weight difference.Do they both have the same number of leaf's in both springs? They also could have been re-arched at some point in time.It also depends on the type of ride your going after,soft or firm? If they look the same the only way to tell if they've been de-arched is to place both springs side by side,and changing out springs can also alter your rear ride height too.

If your looking to stiffen up your rear,try replacing the bushings,go with adjustable shocks and add a rear sway bar.
