I added relay's to my head lights, which require some splicing into my original plugs. I am looking for the style or name of the original terminals. ( Fit H4 yes I have searched that). I bought some off e-bay that were advertised as 3/8' locking terminals. They even showed a picture on a ruler. Problem is they were offset (which I missed) and were actually 7/16 wide.
Does anyone actually have a source or a name for the proper head light terminal plugs? I guess the modern version of which they call 3/8 are a poor metric conversion.
I can find them with new plugs, but only interested in the terminals.
For '68 Polara

Thanks

Advertized 3/8" actually 7/16" which will not fit the socktes

Packard 56 connectors. 5/16 wide.

The male side of the terminal determines the width of the terminal.

The new one does have a lock.
Which I need to insert into the plug.

Thanks @Big_John , that is likely my problem. I only measured the side I needed.
Thank you I will search for that size now. ( I should have asked first, but I probably feared the wrath of Stubbs)

@dart4forte , Wrong ones on that E-bay site? or a slip of the fingers for the disagree?
Thanks I hope I don't get another 25 wrong ones.

Those damn buttons are too close together. And always in the way when scrolling.

Well finally after 19 days I finally got the right female terminals. I learned a lot about terminals and now have about 25 - 3/8 terminals. Too big. And then I ordered off the link above, 1/4” too small. The Packard 56 are the style used for most of the terminals in the car but are 1/4”. Packard 56 =1/4”.
Sooo. I found some Packard 59 female terminals. Packard 59 = 5/16”. Perfect.
So if you are replacing head light sockets the Packard 59 are the ones needed. You can get them in two different wire sizes. 14-18 gauge or 10-12 gauge which are also used for dual wires for each plug which most 4 light headlight systems do. At least in ‘68.

I got them installed tonight. Lights are about twice as bright with the relays.

No problem. The Packard 59’s are not as abundant as the 56’s.

Now back to figuring out my fuel gauge and sending unit.
