Hello,

the power antenna on my 72 Newport stopped working. Was not an original one as well. So now I want to restore it to the original status but I need a correct working power antenna for this project. I would also need the original mounting bezel.

Maybe someone has one?

Thank you
Marian

I do have a power antenna that I bought from a member a while back from my 77 New Yorker, but it turned out to be too short, do you know what length antenna you need or are looking for?
I can send you pictures of the one I have with measurements if that helps

I have 2 power antennas.
One is 18.5" to center of drum. One is 15"
Not entirely sure what your bezel needs to look like.

I don't know the correct length. Maybe I can remove the inner fender so I can access the antenna and measure between the antenna hole in the fender and the mounting holes in the firewall..

Before posting this, I doubled checked the part numbers in the '70 and '72 parts manuals. Both use part#2926688.

I went through this with my '70 300. This picture is of the correct power antenna and yes, it's retracted all the way. It has to be this short because of where it mounts between the fenderwell and the firewall. When it's in the car and retracted, it sticks up about 7" from the fender, not going flush. Power antenna question

There's also a bracket that mounts to the firewall that you'll need if it's not already there.

Looks like this.

I went looking for info and found this thread.
It appears that nothing else will be short enough fir 69-73.
Now, the antenna is made to fit each model from a collection of parts. Maybe the tube can be shortened, if the collapsable mast segements are short enough to stack in the avalable room.
Back in the old days, I had to replace masts. The motor drum only had to come apart if the plastic string broke.

oh did not know that. do not really like it to be honest. my aftermarket one went down all the way. maybe I will just try to get to orignal bezel and mount another aftermarket antenna..
