My 66 Fury III has a 318 Poly with a 2 BBL Stromberg 3-259 on it. My factory manual choke thermostat has seen its days and isn’t fully opening or closing(I’m guessing spring is worn out). Currently I have the choke open but was looking for any advice on a conversion to electric choke. I found a Standard one for a Holley(may work with original rod) on RockAuto and a few for the housings on the side of the carb that won’t work with mine. I’m not really in the market for a $200 NOS thermostat for my four door lol. TIA

Could you install a cable pull on it that comes inside the car? That might be easier than trying to retrofit an electric on to a carb that never was intended for one.
That did cross my mind. I’m going to weigh the options and play around with some stuff and figure something out. I didn’t get it out on the road yet since I got it last September and am just trying to tie off the loose ends to get it road ready. Thanks!

I ALWAYS use a proper manual choke cable, including with the venerable Stromberg carburetors. It's EXTREMELY EASY to install one. Get one of the better, thicker cables and kits, soak it a couple days in 10W oil before you install it, and you will have a reliable, sure fire choke control for whatever brand of carburetor you care for. Dorman makes some decent cables, Edelbrock cables are better. Quality is up to you.

Might that NOS OEM choke thermostat be less expensive than a new/refurbished AFB with an electric choke installed on it? Plus the cost of a used 4bbl intake?
