Ok, I have been reading this story on the Ford truck Forum about this guy tearing into his 7.3 diesel truck engine where he had tapping noises and found metal shavings. He is doing all this work in a rented garage since he is on the road and not near home using the tools he has.

All I can say is that this guy is F*%$kin' amazing. Irregardless what car you like this is one incredible series of posts as he diagnoses and then fixes what the ultimate problem is. If you are a dedicated mechanic, or even amateur, you should read these 6 pages so far. When he gets to the point where he makes his own valve guides and then plates them himself.
