Military Blue

Hi everyone.

Does anyone have a picture of a 1968 Imperial in Military Blue? This was the only dark blue in the color chips I was looking at. It doesn't look all that dark, I thought maybe it looked darker on a car. I'm looking for a dark, metallic blue to paint a Valiant, and how cool would it be if someone asked what color it is, and the answer was "Imperial."

In the Chrysler color spectrum, look to the paint code to see how dark it is. For example, B3 blue is lighter than B5, which is lighter than a B8 blue. This is on the color codes where the full code is two letters followed by a number. Perhaps the earlier ones were similar?

The other issue is that although the base formula might be correct, the amount of metallic particles in the paint AND the pressure it is shot at can determine how the final color looks on the car.

IF you are just chasing "a name", in the 1990s era there was an "Imperial Blue" that was on Chevy full-size pickup trucks . . . Only lasted for a model year or so, before it disappeared.

Perhaps . . . you could shoot the car in the darker-blue high metallic color, then use some silver pearl to make up the rest of the basecoat/clearcoat final layers?

Thanks guys. I had a new Camaro in 2010 that was Imperial Blue. Very pretty. I just thought it would be nice to have a Valiant painted an Imperial color. Yes I know it's just a formula that anyone could have used.

I've got another Valiant I'd paint an Imperial color but that's for another time.
