Is this thing fast. I sat on my wallet for the last couple years waiting on Ma Mopar to produce a contender. I couldn't wait any longer. Did the test drive today and pick it up in the morning. 662 horsepower and a full factory warranty. Part of me wanted to keep waiting on Mopar, but I hated to miss out on what is supposed to be the last year the GT500 will carry the Shelby name. Please Dodge....please use a supercharger in the future! I have officially beaten MANopause!

The Shelby was in southeastern Wyoming. We had a great cruise down in the Charger. Devils Tower is always a nice place to grab a photo and some ice cream. We head back home tomorrow.

excellent...............on both counts. Then scenery is this country is amazing, you just gave us proof of that.

Nice shot, nice car, nice wallet. Couldnt you have installed a supercharger on a SRT

I could have. Google Baker, montana and just look how far removed I am from any speed shop, dyno, tuner, etc. I will have to drive hundreds of miles just to have my heads done for my Polara. I literally live in the middle of the least populated states. So having a factory muscle car with warranty that a dealership (only 75 miles away) can work on is important to me. It's also 75 miles to the nearest Walmart, not that I like Walmart. I was pissed off the other day when I couldn't find Velcro in our small town. Living here has its pluses, but has many downsides as well. A naturally aspirated carbed engine is easy for me. This new electronic **** isn't. The Shebly purchase was a product of our remote location.....or something like that.

Yes, there are many, many beautiful places!

Good luck with it nonetheless. You will have fun with it out there I am sure
Lots of open highway out here! Of course the nearest drag strip is a long ways away, but hope to get there for a run sometime. Don't worry, the Mopars in our garage still out number the blue ovals.

for the money, I would have put it into a srt8 jeep. supercharged it and called it a day. Nothing on the road would beat you.

Hey, congrats, Catfish.

I'll pile on the SRT deal though, sorry. A Jeep with a single turbo is very street friendly & will smoke anything it comes across.

With forged pistons, absolutely. I'm a big fan of turbo though, some guys prefer blowers.

And at the end of the day, it's still a four door grocery getter. Don't get me wrong, they are bad ***. I wanted an American RWD car. I had a hard time choosing the GT500 over the Boss, but honestly.....it's my distance from a reputable tuner that keeps me from dumping a crap load of cash into mods.

the SRT Jeeps are fast, not my cup of tea. And reread my post about my location. People that have never been through this area just don't get it. People on the east coast can commute three states just heading to work. You'd be lucky to drive across ours in a day.

Even that Mustang?
doesn't matter, it's still a Jeep.

We can Internet race all day. I wanted a rear wheel drive pony car. The SRT Chally doesn't stack up. The ZL1 camero is close, but GM burned me once and it won't happen again. The GT500 is traction limited. A tune, pulley, intake and these cars produce over 700 at the tires. Smoke city. Drag radials bring in some impressive times in the 1/4.

But let's put some perspective on this, it's not a race car. It's a fun toy for me to enjoy. Kinda like guys that like to jump on a bike and ride. I can hit the twisties to the south of us or pull hard on those long 25 plus mile long straight aways in the middle of nowhere. I have no real interest in beating the dog **** out of this car or any car. If I was into racing, I would have bought a Nissan GTR......but how American is that?:sFl_america2:

and I still bet it's cheaper to get my car into the 9's than the Jeep. I may be wrong, but that Jeep has what, 1200 pounds over the Shelby? What's it take to get 5000 plus pounds into the 9's? 900 HP? 1000? With the stock axles front and rear? This is all moot, I shared a picture of a car I have dreamed of owning for sometime. Squirreling money and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for......I refuse to let you piss in my punch bowl. Even if it is a Ford. LOL:poke::eek:ccasion14:

Sorry I don't really monitor those cars since they are so far out of my league. In terms of cost isnt' that Mustang getting into Viper territory?

I agree with the purchase of the Shelby. In 2004 I purchased my GTO after comparing it to the Mustang GT (4.6 motor) and the 300C. Today if I could afford it, the Mustang does the best job of incorporating the past design elements for a modern car over the Challenger and Camaro. In my opinion the Challenger needs to go on a diet. The Camaro does not know what era the design wants to be in. Ford needs to be commended, they did the car right.

Agreed, I love the challenger, but it's heavy.

If I were in the market for a new car like that... I would buy the Mustang.

No, they are priced similar to the SRT Jeep if u low option them.

I'm glad to see that there are other people here who can man up and not be ashamed of having a GM or Ford. Drive it like you stole it. Congratulations.
