Muntz 4 track car tape players

I recently stumbled on this vintage car stereo last year, the guy I bought it from told me it was pre 8 track and were popular in the 1960s, he had it restored and it was from 1963 to 1964 and was which was perfect for the car I was putting it in. I was able to buy some tapes on eBay and the thing plays pretty darn good. Anybody else ever see one of these??

I have seen exactly one. The Muntz Stereo-Pak or Autostereo used 4 track CARtridges.
Bill Lear of Learjet fame modified it to the 8 track.

8 tracks worked great as long as you had a match book cover to fold up and slide under the tape to get it to only play one track at a time. Does the 4 track have the same issue?

I know what you mean about the 8 tracks and match books...the 4 tracks don't have that issue they had a lever on the machine that locks the tape in the correct position, and these things sound excellent for being as old as they are, was able to find some good classic titles like Hendrix, Beatles, and the doors.
