We returned this afternoon from a great little road trip to Lebanon Tenn and the Music City Mopars show.
We departed late Friday morning and drove about 225 warm, sunny top down miles on North US 231 through North Alabama to Central Tenn. Beautiful mountain countryside most of the way.

I had pre regestered so we staked out a nice shady spot on the show field and set up the easy-up. Then found the hotel, had dinner and relaxed.

Saturday, show day. over 170 Mopars regestered for the show. Some real high end beautys too, including 7 C bodys. Shortly after we arrived I was busy cleaning Jazebelle up, a second 69 300 coupe pulled up and parked next to us. It was a black with black vinal top and white interior and it looked great.

Here are a few pictures.

It was a perfect day for a show. Blue sky with scattered puffy white clouds, 85 degrees and just a hint of a breeze.
Forrest Pitcock, a retired Chrysler engineer & engine builder/tuner, mostly responsible for the Golden Commando race team of the 60's, was a special guest. I had the oppertunity to sit down and chat with him for about 45 minutes. He's not much older then I am and we had a great time chatting about Detroit dragway and the street racing on and around Woodward ave back then. (In 1962-63, before I had my drivers license I would hitch hike the 20miles to Detroit dragway on Fridays, saturdays and sundays almost every weekend, and watch the Golden Commandos, The Ramchargers, Arnie Besweck, Don Nickelson, The Royal Pontiacs and many others race four abreast.) Forest also built the hemi's for "miss Chrysler" the Gold cup race boats and built the injection systems for the keith Black hemi's in the "Goldenrod" land speed car.
It was a real treat for me.

Some more pictures........

The 66 300 needed everything but was solid and rust free. It also had a silver interior, first i've seen in a 66 300.
The judges did a heck of a job I think. A lot of knowledgable guys in the club.

Here are pic's of 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners in the C body class.

The ride home Sunday was another picture perfect day ...... Jazebelles top stayed down the entire weekend.....

I saw this Monaco in a small used car lot in Fayetteville tn on the way home. Looked like a decent beater, or project car. Clean inside. This is all I know..... 931-483-0005

All most az good az bein' there Will, Thankz ah bunch. Gotta tell yeah tho'. My fave haz got tah be the Silver '61 Lancer and I don't even know the guy but I like the way he thinkz out side the box like I do. Those 3 side draft Weberz on the /6 made my day. I bought 'n brought one of those intakez home when Gail and I did our 25th in Australia. I still have tah laugh unloading my awol bag for customs on the home and looking at the ladies face as she waz tryin' tah figger out what she waz lookin' at.(I still have it too. Wouldn't fit the A-100 without removing the driverz side dowg house, and just too neat to sell or scrap)

Very nice Will, I will admit I'm a little jealous but at least you are doing what I think is the perfect way to spend retirement, cars. I meanwhile broke 3 wheel studs on my Peterbilt so my week hasn't even begun and it is looking bad.

Once again, thank you for sharing yet another one of your travels.
Some outstanding cars there that caught my usually jaded interest. That /6 is a a work of art.
Thanks.

Yeah ...... I did a doubletake when I saw that leaning tower of power. I had to laugh though ...... one look at the single master cylinder and front drum brakes tells me where his prioritys are. ....... Damm brakes ...... just slow ya up.

I love that black '69 coupe! Looks even better in the company of your beautiful vert. :)

Thanks for sharing!

I saw that Lancer and that black Charger at Bristol a few years back both are very cool. I think the story goes that six pack Charger was found in a junk yard for $500 didn't look like a that though.
