I finally got around to installing the rear interior quarter panels on my 70 2 door. I'm missing the trim that covers the edgeoff the panels and metal door opening lip. The trim continues down the door opening lip and covers the rear corners of the carpet, and the sill plate covers up its edge

The parts book calls it a "weathercord", or "cover".
Fits all P-D-C 2 door H/T & convertible. (This from the 69 parts book). Should be the same in 70.

I have this pair from a 69 convertible if it helps.

I always called that a weathercord too. The 69 parts book calls it both, depending on what picture you look at. A "pinchweld" molding/cover, as Alan called it, sounds the most descriptive.

I thought wind lace is flexible. The trim I need is what you pictured, the hard plastic cover. Will it fit a hard top?

It might depend on what piece he is referring to, Will showed the molded pieces that some cars have.

I don't know all the different bodies as I only have sedans, the sedan uses a panel on the lower portion and this stuff on the upper portion...

I know other cars like my A-Body Barracuda use the press on windlace.

I think the term windlace came from the earlier cars that used the stuff that Stan showed.

The pinch weld molding is used outside the auto world so the term windlace doesn't make since there.

I believe he showed the right part. My back seat doesn't cover the rear corners of the carpet so the piece needs to get bigger at the bottom to cover it

Here is a picture of my rear inner quarter. I must be missing 2 pieces because that trim piece you guys pictured would only cover the pinch weld, and it looks like Im missing whatever covers the body/carpet below the panel

No, that is all there is to the trim, HT and vert. The carpets in mine go right up the the edge of the panel, looks like they are a little short in you picture.

The carpet should roll right up the side and tuck under the panel.
Now...
I AM assuming the seat in the picture has been moved to show the area you are talking about.
Otherwise, we have a bigger problem here.

No you assume wrong, that seat is fully installed.

The lower seat matches the backrest, which has the notch for the polara nameplate, so I never suspected it was the wrong seat.

Do I have the wrong seat? ?

FYI

I know that SMS Auto Fabrics has the pattern to reproduce these rear quarter trim pieces. If they get enough requests for them they may start making them readily available. I also know that they have patterns for '70 and '71 Chrysler 300 2 door interior panel as well as C body door pulls.

I think the carpet has been cut incorrectly, leaving it too short to tuck under the door panel and the seat.

Interesting.... Would these have the correct "pleating" (if that is the correct term)?

I've been wanting to compare a 2 door hard top rear panel with one of my convertible panels. I think I could make one work with a little trimming.

All the stitching and pleating will line up between the convertible and the coupe but the convertible actually has more material at the top of the panel where snaps are located, it curves inward the so using a donor coupe panel won't work in the convertible without piecing it together. In my conversations with SMS I explained this difference between the convertible and coupe, they said that they can make the convertible panel with the correct core or they could just make the vinyl and sell it with extra material to a DIY customer to install on their own core. They definitely have the patterns for the '70 and '71 300 2 doors as well as the door pulls and QP trim pieces. We all know someone who is looking for at least one of these items so maybe the more interest people show them they might start producing them instead of just using cores that are sent in to one off them. I know when my panels start looking ragged I will have new ones made but right now I'm luckier than some to have nice decent originals.

Yea, I just looked at mine and realized the difference at the top. It is much wider to cover the top frame. The rest looks no different.

I've stripped the vinyl off mine and glued them on new boards. It takes a little patience, but using new material would be a lot easier.

One of mine has some minor damage at the bottom. I'm thinking of covering the lower 5" (or so) with carpet like the front panels to cover the tear. If I did it right, it would look "factory".

I can't say for sure but I thought only the 4-door rear seats had the front corners curved.
