Hey guys. Anyone ever had to deal with a 96 dodge ram cup holder that broke & wouldn't pull back out to open?

Also I'm in the market for a good used one.

Thanks for any help!

I'm curious what you find. The one in my '97 shop truck is all busted up. Same plastic the rest of the dash is made of.

The tabs that spring down when it's pulled out broke off inside so it's stuck in the"in" position. Same problem as you have?

Leave it closed, buy a useful one:

I've been looking at alternative solutions actually but I really love this truck and would still like to fix the original. Just need some knowledge on a way to get the broken one out of its slide mechanism. I hope to spruce the old gal up and like original equipment and appearance.

That is the absolute best aftermarket upgrade you can do to a early 2nd gen truck. You’ll wonder how you got along so long without it, once you have it.

It is nice to have the original working for back up, when/if you have more the 2 people riding in the truck.

I'm sorry I can't help, mine never broke but it was little used since mostly it was good for dumping drinks...and subsequent carpet cleanings...

I bought the one I suggested and was happy with it. When I got my 2001 manual, those cup holders were completely useless to me so I bought the appropriate version for the 2001. Still using it. Good luck!

I may just get one too. Still would like to fix the original. I really appreciate your feedback and experience! Cheers brother

Much appreciated brother !

Not sure how the little tabs hold the holder shut but perhaps some thin sheet metal slid in to push the tabs out of the way so you can open the cup holder?

That's what I was thinking or a feeler gauge maybe but still hoping someone has dealt with and can give some how to . Also considering drilling holes on outer edges to access the slide retaining screws and pull the whole unit.

I believe that i double screwdrivered it and yes if you want to take out your passengers kneecap the are an awesome design. I use a big metal cup so I purposely broke the bottom out of mine so that the cup would fit

I have one of these in my 07
