I have approx 10 auto transmissions I need to get rid of. I've heard transmission re-builders will pay around $100 for them as cores but whatever it is it has to be better than scrap value. Anyone care to comment with experience or recommendations?

Can any of you confirm and does anyone know of somewhere I could contact near the STL metro area, prefer IL side but will travel or near Effingham or Salem IL is even better. Or how to go about finding a business who will buy them?

The transmissions are all Mopar and most are 727's.

There are some torque converters too .. are they worth anything as cores?

FYI I also have 2 aluminum case OD manual transmissions but I don't plan on scrapping them. I prefer to sell so make me a offer I also have flywheel, clutch fork, and bell housing for /6. Shoot me a PM

The other things I'll be getting rid of are:

Alternators
Starters
Radiators - (no Hemi rads unfortunately .. mostly nondescript 318 etc)

I could use a good ref source for the alternators and starters to determine date codes before they go

Thanks guys

Here is my take, and I am in the trade. If I needed a 727, I would have to pay at least $300 for a core from any one of six guys I know that have them. Then building one still would cost me another $125 for a master kit. Stock convertor? Prob have one rebuilt at one of two shops local for another $140.

I would not take less than $250 if I had the time and space to sit on them. $200 each if I had a buyer that could buy them all. But $100? Not in this lifetime. I have 9 TH400s in my warehouse. I have never took less than $400 for a Core. And they AINT rare.

wish I was closer I would buy a SB 727 and 904 from you. I like to have one laying around for the just in case.

Thanks Andy .. I wish someone else wanted to buy them and sit on them LOL. I'm happy to sell all as a lot and let someone else take the profit

I need the room

Fastenal shipping would probably be ~ $100 bucks

Got a couple other guys asking for SB 727's and I'll let you know if I have one or a more

Pics of some of the trans

what is the one on the top left in the first pic for / year they had that piece on the tail shaft ? There is a fill tube sticking up from the one under it showing near it.

I've seen that damper weight on the end of the tailshaft on 72's and on 79's. Don't know a particular year they stopped or started, but they were around a while.

So it is a vibration damper. Can it be removed with no negative affect? I did a little research and it seems they are bolted on

I wish I could do the same. I've advertised both SB and BB 727's for $50 and never even got a response. I can't give them away.

I've emailed them through their website back when you posted that a couple times and they never answered. Just sent them another message.

Any of them out of a 72 440hp car? #3515848 early or 3681057 late?

I'm going to guess no .. but I'll go ahead and check them all.

Actually I've decided to consolidate them into one location and get a list of all of the numbers from the pan rails this summer

I'll get pics of the numbers and sort out what's what and post up a the details in a new thread when I have them all sorted :).

It's a long shot, but you never know. I have a decent 727 1972 core, just not the hp one.
