just stumbled in on this site. Not sure how I've never found it sooner.
My wife and I have had a few c-bodies - 67 Monaco 500, 68 Newport wagon, 71 Monaco wagon, 66 Monaco 2dr, 67 Monaco convertible...
But our current 2 are a 1965 Newport convertible, and a 67 Newport wagon.
I'm currently in a crisis of conscience because we are going to have to sell one or the other. There just isn't enough parking for 2 of these beasts plus our DD Dakota, and my work van. Now I'd happily quit my job, ditch the work van and hang out in the garage all day, but I'm sure my bank would have a bit of an issue with that.
I'm in the process of getting both cars a bit more sell-able so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions over the next little bit so please bear with me.
I'll start with an opinion question - which would you keep:

65 Newport convertible 383 - new (ish) top - power and it works. Crappy paint, and usual Chryco rust on 1/4s plus minor bubbles in a few other spots. Runs and is driven semi-daily. the car was restored about 15 years ago, and then parked and left to rot for 7 years by the previous owner when he found a new hobby (meth). It handles great, starts great, needs upholstery and has a tranny leak. It's a 2bbl, so it's definitely more of a cruiser

67 Newport wagon 440 - was painted about 15 years ago but has lots of little dings and scratches from being my daily driver for the next 11 years. The 1/4s have rust bubbles starting + bubbles in a few other spots. the seats have been recovered (not stock, but clean - no tweed) The motor is not original and was rebuilt about 11 years ago. The car ran high 14s with a ridiculously huge thermoquad on it. Now has a more realistic TQ (750) so it's a lot more drivable.

We like both cars. Our kids like both cars, and no-one can decide which one to keep/sell. The sale of one will probably finance the bodywork on the other (if we can get enough).
so what do you think??

Please post some pictures! I'm dying to see what they all look like and Welcome to FCBO.

Welcome to the site. I have a lot of parts from a 65 Newport so if you need anything maybe I can help. I have a Facebook page C body Bob. Lots of parts on there with pics & prices

Welcome to the site from Minnesota! I'm the wrong person to ask, I think you should keep both! I'm leaning towards the wagon but I'm voting for impracticalness. Like wagons and 440's.

Welcome, I'd choose a convertible every time. Even if it were on a rollback I'd still have my arm out of the window wearing a smile....

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! I need to see pics in order to give my .02.

:balloons:Welcome. Considering the fact you live on the 'wet' coast, I think the wagon would be a better year-round vehicle. On the other hand, a convertible is nice for those top down days. Biggest consideration for you is how much of the year you want to drive the car.

From a purely financial/investment standpoint, the convertible is the easy choice (usually).

From an emotional standpoint, people really get attached to those wagons. :)

Was that any help? I doubt it.

But, if you can sell one of them to a friend that you trust, might be easier to let either of them go...as long as you know it's "going to a good home" and you can negotiate some "visitation rights". ;)

Kind of like reducing a pet herd, isn't it?

Tough call. I'm a convertible guy too, who also has a Suburban wagon. Either is going anywhere for a long time.

In the condition you describe your probably not going to realize a lot of money for either. I'd invest in a cheap shelter or a good cover and keep both. Convertibles are always popular and the wagons are coming on strong in the market. JMHO.

I don't have hardly any pics on this computer, but here's what I do have so you can get a bit of an idea. I'll post more, better pics when I get my old computer figured out. Thanks everyone for your opinions so far. I can honestly see me keeping both if possible, I guess it will be a case of see what happens.

I would pick the convertible looks pretty nice, The car has Great styling and nothing beats warm weather driving with the top down.

The most money will probably come from the convertible but that's also the car you should probably keep. Think of it as a future investment. The wagon on the other hand would probably sell but maybe not quickly. Soccer mom's got their vans, restorers like hardtops and convertibles, resto-moders wouldn't even look at it ( family car ). Perhaps the image it would project would be more for a lover of these type of vehicles rather than the "young at heart" or sporty driver. Just an opinion.
