Active member on b bodies and looking at becoming a c body owner. I've found what I think could be a pilot car. It's a 67 Polara 500 Convertible that is serial number 12. Seats gone so no build sheet but has fender tag and its hand stamped for the options section. Was a super loaded 440 optioned car too. It's rough but restorable. Is it worth putting the cash into or find another one that's further along?

Thanks :) and thanks guys for having me on here. I'm a long time Mopar guy who's heavy into 62 Plymouths but love all Mopars. I'm getting ready to retire from Army after 27 years and would love a comfortable riding Mopar and hope this one would be a good choice. Classic and neat history.

Welcome to the c- body gang. I personally would not buy a non-compete c-body. Unless you can find the parts you need to make it complete. The only replacement parts are what we share with your b-bodies.

Welcome!!! I guess it depends on your budget, skills and time. And of course, the asking price for said car and how rusty it is. You will never make money, it needs to be a labor of love!

Interesting tag. Tags like that are certainly uncommon.

Without more documentation, it's hard to know if this was a 'pilot' car or just one with a really low VIN.

It was built for 'something'. Typically, one would expect to find the Sales Order (SO) number on a '67 full size Dodge to start with 10. This one starts with a 37. It was built for an out of the ordinary purpose like a dealer demo, show car or something like that.

Also notice the tire code and SPD were slid over to the right one space. There is no third code to the tire code like one sees on 67 cars and the SPD is one place too far to the right. There should be a space between the SPD and the SO number.

Nice find.

Thanks for your service and good luck in your retirement.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! #12, wow! For that reason alone I would think it's worth the effort but you'll be over your head in no time. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Never seen a 67 tag like that with the codes hand punched. Very good odds this was a Pilot car. Look over the car, it probably has 66 parts on it. Friend of mine had 100001, 67 Sport Fury Rag 383 4-spd, had "Pilot" printed on the back of the door panels. No breakdown for body styles, but they made 106 K code 67 Polara 500s.

Quick look at the tag, its a power window, AC, bucket seat, console, console tach car. Also Q/4 is police accessories, don't know what that is. Either a big alternator or a Corp Lease car.

I'm seeing r/4
