Stan, you're finding some nice cars today. This is a nice NY'er and in pretty good shape except the one seat.

What are those half cirled chrome covers on the headlights for ? Any function except for "looks" ?

Cheapo customizing dress-up trick back in the 50's & 60's.
No function what so ever.
They are as stupid as fuzzy dice and wide whites.

Historically you can follow it's evolution from it's early days as headlight lids:

Before there were stick-on plastic fake portholes from PepBoys, there was always something people just HAD to spend money on to bling their car and it goes back to the Model T:

Ahhh, good old J.C. Whitney:

Besides , people are really morons. It's just a matter of degree.

Thought so, usually see them on older models, the rear equivalent would be these "blue diamond taillights" I suppose.

Nice car. Too bad about the driver's seat. If SMS has the fabric, this would be a good project for an upholsterer.

A former buddy of mine - I haven't seen him for years, sadly, lost track of him - bought a '71 NYer 4-door h/t about 10 years ago. A rust free car brought here from Saskatchewan. It was for sale only a couple of blocks from my house and I went to look at it with him. After getting it, he decided to use it as a daily driver for a while. Then the automatic climate control crapped out and he couldn't find a way to fix it, so he ended up selling it. Wish I knew where it was, as it was a really nice car. Of course it was green inside and out.

That car was up for sale before on CL......it is nice though. Too many cars, not enough money...my curse.
