Checked the 1972 Accessories Catalog and figured this info maybe helpful
Attached is the page from the catalog showing the optional door edge protectors

One thing funny is note the typo with the Dodge Polara model listed as "Poalra"

The "door edge protector" part # 3680 083 fits ALL 1972 Polara and Monaco 2 door
