guess i wish it would have "survived" a little more, but hey, cool car anyway.

This vehicle is a 1972 Plymouth Fury Police car equipped with a 440HP motor. The car does not run and it has not been on the road for years. The motor is stuck. There are rust issues. It is original and i have all the parts that are unique to police cars. Please call with any questions or if you would like additional pictures. John 267-566-2927

Saw this last night .... I wish for the cars sake it was in better shape. That's the real deal right there.

A friend of mine is selling this. Same guy that Wolfen bought his S-23 from. As you can see, the car is very rusty. I offered him my minimally rusty but dented '73 Fury as a donor, but recently he decided to sell off many of his car projects, and this is one of them.

Does he still have his green sport fury GT?
Or is that the same car wolfen restored?

As far as I know, the GT is still around. Last time we were talking about it was at Carlisle, and he was still planing to have it restored.

Good to see this still exists (remember it for sale a few years ago), but a pity this man is selling it. A real C-Body enthusiast. What will be its fate now....Fingers crossed.

Take a look at the 'The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3' (1974) and 'Detroit 9000' (1973) to see this car in action. Was also in Led Zeppelin's 'The Song Remains the Same' film, the bit were they got robbed of heaps of dosh from that hotel.

Too bad it wasn't in better shape. Such a cool car. It would be a nice save if somebody could bring it all the way back.

Dave

Your '73 Fury III Sedan is the perfect parts car for this '72 mate. Same quarters, doors etc. :poke:

Real deal - "It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas."

I sent John a msg yesterday, I haven't heard anything back as yet.

I see two 999 codes.

It didn't meet it's reserve the first time it was listed in June 2015, topped out at $1125 (4 bids). It was then re-listed with no reserve, only 2 bids, with it selling at $1075. Presume that included all the spare bits n' bobs (which were significant). Seller's description at the time:

Original (87380.8 miles) Complete 1972 Plymouth Fury I Police Car with 440 Engine, Holley 4 Barrel Carburetor, Limited Slip Differential, Electronic Ignition with Heavy Duty Transmission, Suspension, Front Disc & Rear Drum Brakes & Alternator. Spot lights on right & left, rear window defrost, power trunk release, A/C cutout, fast idle, & certified speedometer were also options.

I have my original 1973 Certificate of Title for this vehicle that is still active for transfer to a new owner, so I can assure you I know where this vehicle has been since the "Village of Plymouth, Minnesota, Police Department" Special Ordered it, used it for approximately 60,000 of the miles & subsequently sold it through a consignment dealer to me. This is Still my "Favorite Car" of many owned over the years, that was last licensed in 1977. It has been stored ever since with good intentions of restoring it... Well, well, well, it's 2015 & after 40 Years of wanting to fix & drive this car again, life has determined that it is unlikely to happen for me, so here it is, available via auction to the next potential owner (I would love to see it fixed).

Nobody has messed with this car and nothing mechanically has been done or touched since the seventies with the noted exceptions. In has been stored in and mostly outdoors for several of it's years. The brake pads were removed several years ago when stuck at a time the vehicle was moved. I recently removed the fan shroud & fan under the hood and loosened the alternator, a/c & power steering to release the belts, in an effort to turn the engine with a breaker bar. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful. The car has not been touched for all these years, with the exception of lubricating hinges & cursory cleaning, however every bolt I loosened, did so without much resistance, which is encouraging for any restoration efforts.

In the pictures you can see many of the parts I have collected. The trunk mat is original. The fenders (sic: rear quarters) are aftermarket remakes (not what I thought I was buying at the time). All of the spare green interior parts were out of a previously owned 1971 Plymouth Fury III, as well as (4) of the (8) spare door windows, the trailer hitch (that was never on the 72) & some of the other miscellaneous parts. Almost all of the other parts were removed from a 1970 Plymouth Fury I, Highway Patrol car with 440 engine, that I bought for parts a long time ago. Gas tank, dual Midas mufflers & correct tail pipes, brakes, radiator, intake & exhaust manifolds, valve covers, dual intake air cleaner, carburetor, wiper motor, rear defroster, certified speedometer, power steering & water pump, pneumatic trunk release, wiring harnesses & miscellaneous. There are (2) spigots, valves, hoses & hose holders that were mounted under the hood & connected to the carburetor for police cars to provide emergency fuel to motorists. I have a new old stock right side view mirror & ignition switch.

I will also include a 1972 Plymouth Fury sales brochure & (2) books that cover Dodge, Plymouth & Chrysler Police Cars from 1956-1994, with another book about Cars of the State Police & Highway Patrol. I was limited to (24) pictures, so ask any questions you like...

yes, I did buy this one. kamikaze bids work sometimes but if you wanna win on occasion ya gotta do it if necessary.

No reason in the world to believe this one will get away :)

I don't believe I can save it. seller was super honest about the car. I can save another one with it fer sure.

Congrats! I was following this one. If it was a Dodge I would have probably bid some more this afternoon.

John is a good guy, I bought my S23 from him, very easy to deal with too.
