My friend JUST posted this baby on FB... and I thought it would be "fun" to post it here, for general entertainment, and for posterity!

"Got this Mopar Plymouth Fury III Limo, that I don't have time to finish - Needs assembly, and what you see is what is there - According to Car spotter (He's a Ciddie guy), it's a 1970 Fury III, but as papers shows, it's registered first time in 1973, so a Danish car (Meaning sold here from new). ((And we both believe, that it's been "converted" here too))

Disassembled and painted 15 y ago, and has not been started in 10 years.. Will run and drive, but not brake.. will need trailer pick up!

Has leather interior done abt 15 y ago, still in OK condition.

6 cyl, with automatic"

Price in DKK 25.000,- ($ 3725)

--------------

Pris 25.000

What’s up with the steering wheel ? Any engine pics ? It’s hard to believe someone would do this with a 6 cylinder. I can’t stop staring at this car. it’s like driving by a car crash , I can’t look away :)

I guess there is one engine pic. My mistake. But the no air conditioning is a deal breaker.

I agree, a real head turner! Why a straight 6? Why a single wide door, maybe built for wheelchair access? Has it been stretched, or were the door and windows rearranged?:wideyed:

I agree, I've seen this type of conversion before. Looks like a Dutch or Belgian limousine stretch.

Yea this is one of the most bizarre one's I have seen, had to come back and have a re-look.
I thought at first view that they ruined a 2 door post sedan 'cuz of the rear quarter panel, but then it doesn't have a 2 door front door. Fury III? A 2 door post sedan with a slant six would most likely be a Fury I or II, hmmmm, come back a look again, heck it looks like they put a 4dr sedan front door on it. Truly bizarre... :realcrazy::realcrazy:

You could be right......i remember i,ve seen papers from one and it showed ...2dr.

Slnt 6 is not that strange ……..
We pay road tax here , the havier the car the more we pay….
In Belgium they pay for engine size , so a slnt6 is cheaper than a bb a and the gasprice was always higher here.....

OK, ya looking at the other pics it looks like they used the 2 door to get the limo 'quarter glass' seat back style. Probably cheaper to buy too, and I fully understand the slant six due to the Euro gas prices, I'm also a little aware of the engine size vs. road tax and this varies by country. BUT! With the extension an extra people added weight driving it with a slant six must of been fun! I can see it being used as a short shuttle ie. boat to terminal, or theme park shuttle, but long haul or get out into traffic... really?

Any idea what the application these cars were used for?

as for the slant ---dont forget that after ww2 chrysler was shipping desotos and plymouths to europe for use as taxi cabs and they went without an engine or tranny----brits/french/german companies were fitting diesel engines into the taxis---it might be these slanties were just a cheap thing to leave in the car.....

Not in Germany, that's for sure. Also note that the Slant Six wasn't around until 1960.
