Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Do you have an old computer to access FCBO that was made in the USA also?:poke::poke:

Of course not. Nor do I accept the false and oft-repeated premise that one is hypocritical for using the only tool available for a given need. If a hostage escapes using a car owned by their captor, is that a moral equivalent to kidnapping? Of course not.

Let's think of higher prices as a result of tariffs as a form of physical therapy. It often hurts, but in the long run you're better off being able to walk.

When I read the owner of a company talking about on-shoring and finally being able to compete (therefore provide good jobs) despite tariffs and due to strong demand, I know someone in the Federal government has done the right thing.

This is good, but somewhat artificial if demand is only due to American products being cheaper than foreign competitors because government policy deliberately makes foreign products more expensive when otherwise a foreign product would be purchased.

If tariff protection enables American businesses to improve so they can compete when tariffs are eventually lifted- great, if not you could end up like the Australian auto industry where high wages and good conditions existed but production costs were far too high to compete in a non tariff environment, so the factories moved to Thailand instead and our industry shut down.

Bullshit!! Our government just needs to stop pissing on us.

Well maybe that is the reason. At Least the problem is closer to home....lol
IF you are correct...prove it. In any case my statement stands.

The tariffs are being used to respond to closed, protectionist markets in other nations... although anyone could be pardoned for not being aware, because our mainstream media will never fully explain it that way, and Trump's own party is in love with exploited labor.

I took some time to try and formulate a response to your "prove it". There is nothing to prove. Either you have faith in this countries ability survive and succeed or you don't.
I believe in the U.S.A.

Well I was reacting to your reply
Quote "Bullshit!! Our government just needs to stop pissing on us.[/QUOTE]

Which I took as yes you agree there is a problem and assumed you somewhat agreed with my statement which I said that you quoted..
"Unfortunately the USA can't take care of itself anymore without help."

Most blame other countries saying that they are trying put US companies out of business and flooding markets with cheaper goods etc. I found your answer interesting and not as mainstream an answer. Maybe me saying "prove it" was rather abrupt or rude and if taken that way I am sorry, but rather it was a short way of saying "explain with your opinion and data to support your opinion" as I would be interested to hear. Not trying to start a squabble.
A Global economy is much more complicated than it was in the distant past when we were much more on our own and made practically everything we needed ourselves. No offence intended and I too want the USA to succeed .

The only way another country can screw with us is if our govt does nothing to protect us from it.

I did not think that you were.

I don't see a reason why we can't get back to a much more self sufficient form of existence. As for a "global economy" I think the EU is a good example of how F'ed that idea is. The playing field is only as level as the biggest bullies want it. If someone wants to do business here in the states it should be done on our terms and not at the expense of our citizens and companies. The auto industry is a prime example of that. Foreign companies allowed almost unrestricted access to our market while our companies were severely restricted in attempting to grow sales overseas (Europe & Japan)
Shut out the foreigners by giving them the same access they give us, stop exporting energy while buying foreign on the world market, protect us from foreign invaders who bring nothing to the game but crime, disease, and a willingness to suck on the taxpayers tits while sending their earnings back to THEIR country. They don't even have enough respect for us to enter legally by ringing the doorbell and seeing if we want them here. I see no difference between this and some local scumbags pulling B&E's in my town.
We don't need help. We can take care of ourselves. We just need to come up with a new form of government..something that would be of the people, by the people, and FOR the people.

Ahhh, Utopia, I have seen pictures in books.
Let us know when you find it, I will spread the word and everyone can go there. I'll stay here because when everyone leaves this should be a damn fine place.

Yes I agree but if there ever is a level playing field for all countries involved I would think everyone would feel at least mildly screwed.

Great points but I still think we are the victims now of our preaching of business from the past. I think we are getting beat up at our own game. When we did make everything [or most everything] we had the free market by the balls. Now ,,well you know. Thanks for your thoughts.
