Hi all,

Anyone know the correct size for the cotter pin that holds the accelerator pump rod in place? (1967 Monaco, 383 2-barrel; I'm pretty sure it's a Carter BBD.) Mine keeps falling off, so I assume the pin is stretched or bent... which is why I'm not bothering to measure the one I have. Thanks!

David a cotter pin can't "fall off" if you stick it threw the hole and spread it apart .. or if it's a spring type it has to close

Back in the day we called them Jesus Chris* pins because thats what you said when it flew off when you were installing it!

That's called a Clevis Hairpin. The hardware stores that have an aisle of those pull out drawer fastener displays have them in the sizes you need. That's where I get mine.

I smashed my thumb last weekend trying to force one on the lawnmower deck .. sum-of-a-be-atchi !

buy a few different sizes and you have whatever don't fit handy for the next job that requires what you have left .. good stuff to have around. Should be tight if it's the right size and now bent apart/sprung

Thanks guys! This is my first time messing around with a carb. I guess that was an easy one, but I figured I'd rather ask a dumb question than make a dumb mistake.

Not asking would have been a dumb mistake.....
