My current wheel hub is seized so bad when i attached a puller it warped the stud ring and not its totally not salvageable. If anyone knows of a website or person to get in contact with that would be AMAZING and you would be the reason my 64' Newport mechanical restoration is complete and drivable!!!! THANKS!!!:sFl_america2:

First off welcome to the wonderful world that is For C-Bodies Only there are some knowledgeable Gentlemen on here that will try and assist you.

HI Cali, If you could supply pics of the part you need and also what you have done so far we can offer advice and sources for hubs etc. It is curious you warped something as the hub normally takes a 120 ton puller to get it off the rear axle.

Hey Wollfen, Im currently finishing the last of the mechanical work on the 64 Newport. Full Brake job, new drums. and wheel studs. I was trying to re-use the studs on the rear passenger side and i beat them up a bit to much with the hammer trying to punch them out. I thought the rear hub assembly was supposed to slide of fairly easy but I had to get a puller and cranked it over so hard that it warped the hub ring that the lug studs mount in..... :( Im looking for this 2015-05-16-22-41-09.jpg

Okay yes, what happens is the puller is used to put tension on the hub by making it tight using a ratchet, then once it is tight you use a mallet to hit the end of the puller to make it pop off. It makes a loud bang when it does. What sort of puller are you using? it should have three legs and goes to the studs to be bolted on, not to the edge of the flange.

Yes, that is the only correct tool that works and that should be used.

But try and find one...

64 was the last year for the dreaded tapered hubs on mopars. Best thing....... Find an axle assembly out of a 65 B body and swap the entire thing. You now have the upgraded slip on drums and easy access to parts when needed.

I have a good 67 b body 8 3/4 housing that I purchased just for the center section. It's complete minus center, and brake drums. The drums were gone when I got it.

so find the entire rear end from a 65 b body or just the rear axle shaft (passenger rear)? and does that no mean i have to replace it on the left side as well?

After 65 the rear axle hub is integrated into the shaft. It's no longer a separate part. You'll have bearing adjusters instead of messing around with shims. My housing, and axles will bolt right in place of your old one, and parts are readily available. your original 3rd member will also bolt in.
