Is it just me or did I get screwed over by buying a "Poulan Pro" chainsaw?
No one carries replacement parts here in my area in Ontario Canada.
I just bought this chainsaw and had the misfortune of bending the bar after using it twice.

It was my fault so I am not trying to get warranty but the big problem is that no one and I mean no one carries bars or chains for these chainsaws locally.

I called Poulan directly & they told me that parts shipped in Canada take about 5 business days to get to me plus the price was almost 2X what the online cost showed!!!!

It showed me $50.59 online but the sale was disallowed because I am in Canada!

I called Poulan directly & was quoted $90cdn+ taxes+shipping
It is going to cost me $100+ to fix a $150 chainsaw.

Talk about cross border gouging the customer!

I should have bought a better name brand chainsaw...
At least then I could go to the local hardware store to buy parts...

I ended up ordered an Oregon brand bar and chain at #75.00+taxes

Poulan is no in my good books now

There a disposable item. All the lower end brand handheld tools are. The quality ones that are worth repairing, and will last are echo, and stihl. Its More money up front, but I've had them go 15 plus years with the basic maintenance.

You live close enough to the border to have it shipped to a parcel drop in NY and pick it up there.

I'm going to order a spare and have it delivered to my daughters' place in NC then bring it home with me so I don't get into a pinch again

Get a Stihl. I can't count the trees mine has taken down over the last 7 or 8 years, and some 40-50 footers at that. Last Sep we had an early snow that brought down branches everywhere and that little 15" saw worked three straight days cutting it all up into fire wood.

Just keep the chain sharp and adjusted, fill the bar oil with every tank of gas, and it should last for years. Plenty of full service Stihl dealers around too. They aren't even that much more to buy.

I second the Stihl I bought mine used Seventeen years ago 038av 30 inch bar I just dropped 3 13-15 inch trees. diameter Keep the chain oiled and it cuts like a hot knife thru butter.

Guess you never read my "Pull-on" rant... too bad...I feel your pain. Poulan or as I called them pull-on are the biggest pieces of crap ever made! Threw mine over a cliff one day years ago... Went out and bought a Husky, was 15 years ago and still running. Do yourself a favor... put the new bar on and list it in the want ads. Cut your losses now and save yourself tons of aggravation! I'm surprised it even ran long enough to bend the bar!

I have a Stihl 041 AV Super. Bought new by the ol' man in the early 80's. Made in West Germany. The only maintenance he ever did on this saw was rebuild the carb once. Runs like a friggin TOP and just chugs through any log. It is now mine.

@62Dodge, my dad also had an 038 but it was a magnum. Jesus that saw would wrap up quick. It was all top-end.

I use synthetic 2 stroke oil and it keeps the gas good over the winter.

Yah I missed that one.
I will once I get this tree in my back yard diced up
