so I found a 6 way power seat in the yard...i cannot remember what it was in but it would have been 1966-1971 c body for sure...thats the only cars i looked at. I wondering if i can swap the base into my 67 newport? if so...what else do i need from the donor? thinking it was the 68 VIP I was looking in but it might have been the 71 NY.

The p.seat frame will bolt right onto your factory seat and use same holes in the floor pan.
it is important to grab the wiring for the p.seat and the side shield that houses the buttons as well.
before installing the frame test all the motors and lube the crap out of the rollers and tracks.
I did a p.seat upgrade in my car.
Behind the driver's kick panel there is a heavy red wire where you can hook up the p.seat to. as always run a fuse or circuit breaker in the wiring.
Run the wire under the carpet to the seat connector.
You may have to slice a hole in the carpet.
Hope this helps.

This does help. Thank you. I know the switch panel was there. I will bring a battery to test the motors. I wondered what that red wire was for in the panel.

Seems like our '66 Newport had the plug-in for the power seat already under the manual seat? The front and rear sections of the carpet joined under the front seat and the wire connector was poking out from that overlap in the carpet/insulation.

I have this planned for the winter. I bought the power base 2 summers ago.

All C's have this wire.
It is a hot wire that is spliced into the same wire that feeds the ammeter,
Its purpose I am assuming is to run any other options like door locks, other cigar lighters (New Yorkers had them in the B pillars of 4 dr seedans) and the like.
Besides it is a good power point that already has a plug end on it.

I tested my frame once I got it home. Buying it untested can get it cheap. Working??? Well the price just went up lol.

Just remembered one thing....Once installed the seat will sit higher than before by 3 inches.
Even with the p.seat down all the way it took me a few times not to bonk my head getting in and out of the car.
I gotta say it is worth it especially on long drives where I can adjust it for my knees and back.

I don't have to worry about that with the top down. :)

I am glad you mentioned it though I am 6'4" and long bodied, I don't want to be staring at the upper windshield frame.

Did that conversion in my 73 Suburban. Removed the high-back bench seat and installed two buckets, the driver-side being powered. Looking at removing the original fold-down rear seat and putting the old front bench in the back.

What would you think is a fair price from the junkyard for the power seat tracks from the new yorker bench seat? Assuming they work...or don't work

I seam to recall the in 1967 models the bench portion of the seat is slightly different for the power seat to non power seat. I think this may account for the rise of seat height when switching over.... and the tightness around the switch too.
