Here something that someone may have the answer to : I have a 1967 New Yorker with power seats. The switch is on the side of the seats and looks like the typical triangular shaped large toggle switch. Here's my question,Did they make a power seat that just goes forward and backwards or did they all come with a tilt function also? It seems my seat moves forward and backwards with no problem, but when I try to tilt the seat using the switch,I can hear the motor run but nothing happens when trying to tilt it up or down.Is there a seperate cable mechanism for the tilt feature that is keeping it from moving?

does your switch have only the one toggle ....? If so it will move forward and back plus up and down.
A 6 way seat has an additional 2way switch that allows for tilting the seat.

My 67 has only the one toggle switch and moves back/forward, up and down and tilts/rolls forward and backward when "rotated" in the appropriate direction.....

The early style must have been different, my 69 has three switchs in a chrome bezel .... a center toggle and two rocker switchs, one forward and one behind the toggle, for the tilt mode.
It makes sense. I don't think there ever was a 4-way seat in a "C".

My '67 Imperial has the same setup. It's like a 4-sided pyramid with dimples in each side, right? I have heard that the seats aren't hard to repair, especially if you hear the motors working. My driver's seat works properly (slide, height, tilt), but the passenger seat has some issues.

Get under there and fix it! Take pictures, so I can see how to do it myself, too!

Bajajoaquin, you got a perfect description of that seat switch( a four-sided pyramid with dimples on each side ).Now,does anyone know what controls the mechanism to make the seat go up and down(or possibly tilt). When I use the switch the forward and reverse functions both work, but the up and down direction doesn't,even though you can hear the motor operating.Any clues what to look for?

I think you are going to have to bite the bullet and pull that seat out, give it the once over and see whats going on.

OK,pulled my bench seat out and plan on checking it out within the next few days.I also pulled up the carpet and plan on replacing that while I've got the seat out. Here's another question.I noticed on the passenger side floor area that there were two additional holes in the floorpan 13" inboard of the two passenger side bench seat mounting holes. They are directly inline with the bench seat holes. Are these holes for factory buckets? Can anyone with bucket seats ( I've got a 67 NYer coupe ) measure the width of the seat bolt down points.I've got 11 inches front to back and 13 inches side to side, assuming that the two open holes were meant for bucket seats, but why are they only on the passengers side and not the drivers side? I may consider converting over to bucket seats.
