My brother and I recently purchased a 1957 Dodge Royal. We pulled the 325 poly and powerflite qnd installed a 1965 361 with a 727. Some sources said the heater box had to be removed and the transmission tunnel modified for it to fit. That is not the case. Having the heater out made engine installation easier, but the box is now back in the car. The question is, will the 1965 power steering pump work with the 1957 steering gear? Will the 65 pump flow too much volume or create too much pressure?

My gut suspicion is that it should work fine. Try it and see, just don't hold the steering wheel all the way in either direction for more than a second each time. Holding it there will spike the pressure.

Try it and see . . .

They used the old-style long sector steering box from 56- 64 on some models. I would think it should work with no issues.
