This is my 68 NYer. A couple of days after Carlisle I go out to work on the car. It had developed a fairly substantial oil leak, 2 quarts in 400 miles - the trip to Carlisle and back.

I found the source of the oil leak, the pressure sender went bad. Yeah, and easy fix for once.

The other thing in found though was an empty power steering reservoir. It had been leaking, but it literally peed all over the garage floor. I don't think there is a drop of fluid left in it. recently someone had posted that they took their pump apart and put a new large o-ring in it. i think they said between the pump and the tank.

I've had them leak before, but nothing like this. If I hadn't put a piece of cardboard down to catch the oil it would've ran clear to the drain.

It seems like a seal kit is in order for it.

I had the same problem with my PS pump leaking. Here is a link to my recent post regarding the fix:

Ok, so I got the pump off and the tank removed. I blasted the bracket and the tank up at lunch today so I can paint them tonight. I'm hoping the seal kit comes tomorrow or Friday so I can put it back together.

Someone mentioned using a wedge of wood when reinstalling and a special tool to get the bracket tensioned properly. I cannot find that thread for nothing. Would someone point me to it please.

No worries I found it. It's in Rip's saga thread.

There ya go. . . I used a little piece of plywood, because I didn't have a hunk of rubber to stick back in between the pump and the bracket. I fully intend to find a suitable rubber bumper and install it, so everything is set up correctly.

Does anyone have a picture of the rubber bumper. I've done a little bit of looking around online, but I haven't found a picture of it. I'm thinking it must install in the rectangular hole in the portion of the bracket that mounts to the engine. Any thoughts...

Here is a picture of the placement of my little plywood shim between the pump body and the bracket:
