Please let me know if anyone has advice on the following:

to Swap a 360 for 440 (500 Stroker)

1) Do I need to change wiring harness?

2) Do I need to change brake booster (I already have front disc) to avoid hitting motor

3) I am thinking a Lokar kickdown cable? Any thoughts on this?

4) I am considering Schumacher Header and Motor Mount Kit - ?

5) Do I need a special oil pan? (center sump)?

6) Exhaust size 2.5 v 3.0"? (I am thinking 2.5") duals - any thoughts on mufflers quieter performance is goal (I know that they are inconsistent)

7) Any special starter (I see smaller ones to avoid headers)

8) How about radiator - I have 26" inch - any suggestions.

I have a 9 1/4 rearend with suregrip (from an Imperial - I may need to change out brakes according to previous advice )to put in and plan to add police interceptor firmsteel suspension this summer.

The car is getting painted now and the motor should be done in 6-8 weeks to match up with the car in the mid winter. I hope to have on the road in the summer of 2016.

Thanks for your thoughts

I like 3 & 4 on 5 I would get a steel pan with a acceleration baffel. A deep sump pan may hit. Windage tray for a stroker. on 6 I like 3 inch as you will have plenty of torque On 7 yes to a mini starter on 8 yes to a 3 row with a shroud. Bigger T bars will drive better & front sway bar

Small changes, yes. Lengthen it for the front distributor, etc.

Not sure but I don't think so. Aftermarket valve covers may hit - again - I'm not sure.
3) I am thinking a Lokar kickdown cable? Any thoughts on this?
I don't like Lokar stuff but you have to have a kick-down setup so if that works for you - use it.
4) I am considering Schumacher Header and Motor Mount Kit - ?
Haven't used them - but wouldn't fear using them. I just haven't needed to.
5) Do I need a special oil pan? (center sump)?
Pretty sure you need a mid-70s pan which is a sort of center sump. I think typical muscle car pans will hit in the front.
6) Exhaust size 2.5 v 3.0"? (I am thinking 2.5") duals - any thoughts on mufflers quieter performance is goal (I know that they are inconsistent)
3" will be louder. use bullet mufflers as resonators to help quiet it down if you go 3".

7) Any special starter (I see smaller ones to avoid headers)
MP mini starter is all I use. The real MP one - not the cheaper import version.
8) How about radiator - I have 26" inch - any suggestions.
If it works now it might work for the new one. How many cores does it have? Core count is more important than size. Make sure you have a fan shroud for it.

Thank you for the information

This is really good information THANK YOU

I am also wondering on the cruise, I have a cable from the tranny to the cruise under the dash then from there to the speedometer. Can I just hook up same cable on the new 727 (I have 360 with 727 now, but I know there are differences with the new tranny)

THANKS FOR SUPPORT

Here is the car in the shop (getting painted as well) waiting - motor may be out by now, waiting for new 440. I plan to pick her up in the spring with the paint complete and new motor. I will then work on interior myself, and plan to upgrade the suspension, rearend and brakes over the summer.

I think you are right, I think there are two options

1) find the k frame that fits - does anyone have one for 1972 fury for 440

2) Buy the Schumacher or similar modified mounts

Is this right?

Schumacher mounts are awesome. The tri y headers may not be enough for the stated hp. You may be able to use the lockdown off the 360. The only difference in the trannys is the bellhousing (bolt pattern, starter location and dust shield). You should be able to use your cruise.
