Hi all,

I recently ran across an ad for a 70 Sport Fury for sale... The seller to sent me a couple pics including fender tag...

I'm still relatively new here and could use some expertise.

The car looks like a Sport Fury to my knowledge...
Has the hidden headlights, Sport Fury on the side marker lights, has the RW&B emblem on the grill, Sport Fury scribe on the interior door panel.. but I thought all Sport Fury's had the "Strobe Stripe" and if it was a GT or an S23 there would be a decal on the deck lid stating so...

I also saw a picture of an alleged S23 and it had the S23 on the deck lid and it also had S23 at the end of the strobe stripe...
The car I'm looking at has no strobe stripe.. it has body side mouldings and I don't see S23 anywhere on it...

Is there any way for me to determine if this car is a real Sport Fury or an S23?

I read the S23 Sport Fury's came with 318's...
This car is a 318 w 3 spd manual on the column... kinda strange I thought for a Sport Fury.. but what do I know??

Below are pics of the car and the fender tag...

And here is the results from an online Mopar Fender Tag Decoder:

PH23:

VO1: Unknown

Hi,

it is "just" a regular Sport Fury.
An S23 would have the A51 package on the fender tag, a GT the A52 package.
Both versions would came with a side stipe, not the side molding, too.

This green car is for sale since ages

Carsten

All sport furys DID NOT have the strobe....I believe only the S23 and the GT had the strobe, but their own version

And I'm sure those could have been deleted with the stroke of a pen upon ordering but that would be on the tag. This one came with the very rare GOD option...
V01=monotone paint.

I like it, green or not. Anyone else know of a '70 SF with a stick shift? I've never seen one.

yes, the strobe was just available on both performance versions. Only difference is the letters (S/23 vs GT)

All regular sport Furys do have the side molding which disturbs the good look in my opinion.

One would hope that "GOD" would be the buyer standing in the salesman's office saying, "I don't care whats available, I want it THIS way."

to us with the german language the "T0D" cars are similar despite meaning "death".
So any 1970 model a 440 t-code car from the Belvedere plant has a special view, too

"TOD" means in german "death".
So IF you drive a 1970 440 powered C-Body (they didn't assemble B&Es at Belvedere) you drive the "death"
My old SFGT was PH23T0D152...

Really Carsten..... you presumed i didnt know Es and Bs werent at Belvedere?.... ouch!

Is TOD a religious thing?

Tod is a German noun meaning dead. I believe its pronounced "tote", but I could be off a bit on that one.

Well it's a damn good thing the O is an 0 then!

These are different types of words.

tote (Personen) = dead (people)
Tod = death
