Question on attaching window lift and guide

My window lift bracket rivet broke. I got the new rivet from R/T Specialties. Bought 4. I took the door panel off and all seemed to go ok. My question is: Should there be a gasket that goes between the bracket and the glass? There were no remnants of a gasket on the glass or in the door cavity I found the bracket and old rivet. The FSM page 23-27 show a gasket in fig. 71 that looks like it would wrap around the bottom of the glass. I think the glass should be cushioned from the metal. is there a gasket available?

I would think that some high quality gasket material would work.

Thin rubber sheet material like from an old air mattress.

or an old tire tube should work.

On the last station wagon rear window I did I just glued it in with a urethane windshield adhesive. Worked good.
