finishing up my timing chain project, I ran across two ground straps which I'm trying to figure out where they attach. I'm thinking (with my limited understanding of electricity) that as long as they make contact with rust free, unpainted metal I'm good to go. My concern, perhaps ungrounded (pun), is that they should be kept away from something flammable (gas ) or electrical (coil). Is that true? Paul

As suspected, the ground straps just go from the engine to a body (and possibly stub-frame) part, non-painted area and clean bolt hole, with sheet metal screws (I suspect). No need for them to spark as they should be securely attached and not loose.

Where are the ground straps attached to on the motor? Look around to see if there's an adjacent hole the screws can go into.
