Quick question-'68 300 convertible wiper motor

I've come across something interesting on my '68 300 convertible, specific to the wiper motor. This car has 2 speed wipers, but the motor is a 3 speed. Is this common? Pics attached.

Someone probably replaced it at some point, it will still work as a two speed unit.

Not all worm drive (90^) motors are 3 speed.
