Apparently he is going back to college.

He also claims to have done all this work to the car and at the end says to his knowledge all it needs to run is...
Well, how can you not know for sure?

I need to sell my project as I no longer have time to work on it and need the money for college. It is a very rare 4 door 1961 Dodge Polara with a 383 cubic inch V8 and a TorqueFlite push button automatic. The interior was recently refinished. I put in a brand new crate 383, msd ignition, radiator, torque convertor, all new belts and chains and all fluids. I rebuilt and refinished almost everything else down to polishing all the chrome. To my knowledge all it needs to be fully running and ready to go is a lower radiator hose, new wiring and the trunk needs to be reupholstered. Also door locks could use replacing. She's a beautiful old car and very rare, I've never seen another. I'm a fairly well motivated seller so make me an offer.

Nice car, but they usually do not garner much interest unless they are two doors or convertibles. Then they become really valuable.

I like the car.....not so much the color.

Something is not right.......I assume he put the wrong radiator in it because of the kink in the top hose. Coolant is not going to flow through that top hose.

I'm not seeing why you would spend time or $ on this hulk. The use of the term "rare" and he's "never seen another" certainly don't equate to desirability in this case. If you had a ragtop or a 2 door that needed parts maybe, But to each his own...there's better rides on the market than that

I don't know ........ I like the car. Fix the mistakes, rub & polish, a set of OEM wheel covers, and head out to the cruise night with a unique Forward look car. There were no bad looking Virgil Exner cars built, IMHO

I wouldn't spend a whole lot of money on it but I would sure drive the hell out of it. Imagine how many people would say "what the hell is that"?

That could really be a fun car if it's the right money. I'd drive it too.

I can't disagree, there were some great Exner designs.

Probably a better chance of a convertible or 2 door H/T showing up at a show then that 4 door sedan. Those are the cars that brought folks into the dealership ....... then they would leave with the 4 door.

I don't like the verts in 1961 that much being Plymouths and Dodges

I do love the 2dr HTs which are really spaceage desgined IMHO including the great roofline

Have to note that a month ago I was up in Sacramento and made a wrong turn. When I was able to turn around a few blocks down the house on the corner had a white 61 sedan sitting in the driveway with a tarp partially over the roof.

I'm torn tween the Polara (122" WB) and the shorter (118" WB) Dart.

Oh hell. The Fury (118" WB) also...

I can't figure out where the Fury lost the 4" extra inches from.

Kind of obvious why Chrysler (122" WB) was the bread winner in '61.

Poor DeSoto (122"WB)...

Something to chew on with this mongrel year.

You can definitely see the extra 4" in the Chrysler by the width between the lines but the width is the same in the Dart and the Polara. Where are the extra 4" in the Polara over the Dart.

Shouldn't the distance between the lines be the same for the Polara and the Chrysler?
