Hi all,

The driver's side rear door on my '68 Polara seems to be stuck shut. I think the internal mechanism is frozen after sitting for 15 years cause when I push the button on the outside or pull the handle from the inside, there is no resistance.

I believe the passenger side has a similar problem, but it must be stuck in the "open" position because it does not latch when I shut the door (you can open/close the door without pushing the button on the handle).

The big question is how do I get the door panel off, so I can get at the mechanism to try to free it up?

Thanks for the help!

You'll have to take out the rear seat. Push in at the base of the seat to release the base. The top will have two hex head bolts holding the bottom, remove and lift straight up.

With the seat out of the way, remove door handle and then the arm rest by unscrewing the two large phillips head screws. Take the window cranks off.

The door panel snaps off, starting gently at the bottom and working your way around the sides and once it's free, it will lift straight up and off.
