Refinishing real wood veneer parts

I need hints on how to salvage the interior walnut trim in my '66 Imperial. This is real wood, and came from then-100-year-old walnut trees! I have two problems: First is three of the trim pieces are coming off their steel backing, and need to be firmly (and correctly) reattached. Second. I want to bring the finish back to its' lusterous original finish. Any ideas on how to go about this???

I like Formby's Tung Oil for finishing wood. Brings out the grain with a natural look. Four to Five coats with a clean rag. 0000 steel wool and some Johnson's past wax. Not sure about adhesive for wood to metal though.

prepare it with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads .. and get some 50 WT ball bearings
